" Marriage is a gift from God to us; the quality of our marriage is a gift from us to Him."
-Elder Clayton
We celebrated 5 years of marriage on the 19th. As I said on A Fancy Day I just couldn't stop saying all week "5 Years! I can't believe it." When you are first married you think those 5 years are forever away and then all the sudden you are there celebrating your first big chunk of time.
I really am proud of us for making it this far, so many of our friends have gotten divorced in shorter amounts of time and with the, as cheesy as it may sound, attack on the family it wasn't easy making it this far. But at the same time it was. I'm grateful that we made a commitment to each other 5 years ago that divorce would not be brought up or thought of as an option and when we do feel like we are drifting apart we have always made it priority to get back on track.
I was telling Dave at dinner on our anniversary that I feel so lucky to be married and to be married to him, I may not have very many talents but I do feel that I am a good wife, not even that I'm a good wife cause I'm not really, but that with Dave we have created a wonderful marriage and I'm proud of what we've done. It's one of the few investments we make in this life that we get to take with us and continue on with into the next life. There will be no end to our marriage, so the time and energy we put into it now is so important. My relationship with David is one of the most important things to me I feel so blessed to have him by my side.
Happy 5 years David, here is to a million more!
* These photos were taken last summer. I just got them all from the photographer so I will be sharing the rest later.
